Orientation dependencies have been reported using plasmonic materials where optical activity is controlled (e.g., deliberately turning no circular dichroism into a left-handed or right-handed response). Consequently, this presents an appealing approach to potentially elicit targeted responses with custom-designed nanomaterials under defined conditions. We present selected experimental responses involving gold nanocrescents and ongoing efforts to theoretically characterize these observations.
